FMIG: Family Medicine Interest Group
Stanford’s Family Medicine Interest Group is one of many FMIGs at medical schools throughout the country supported by the American Academy of Family Practice. The primary purpose of FMIG is to give students the opportunity to learn more about family practice and the wide variety of issues relevant to this field of medicine, whose importance is being increasingly recognized. The group’s activities include quarterly events with family practice docs centered on one or more topics pertinent to family practice. Recent examples have included family practice residencies, obstetrics in family practice, and serving the underserved. Everyone is welcome; all that’s required is a little curiosity about family practice! Also, scholarships are available to fund travel to family practice conferences.
