Healing HeARTs
Healing HeARTs is a children's advocacy project conducted by Stanford medical students and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital staff. Together with recreation therapists, school teachers, and art therapists, Stanford medical students guide patients and their families at LPCH, Packard at El Camino Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford in producing works of art and creative writing, which are displayed at LPCH for public viewing. These works also appear in the student-designed Healing HeARTs magazine, published each autumn. The mission of Healing HeARTs is to support children's creative expression, nurture children's self-esteem by displaying their creations, and increase public awareness of issues surrounding hospitalization and childhood illness. To get involved, please contact Grace Cheng, M.D. (dr.grace.cheng@stanford.edu), or Seth Sherman (ssherman@stanford.edu).
